The Safari Guide Training story began in South Africa with Safari School EcoTraining who Afreco works closely with and looks after their UK side of bookings. Local field guides Lex Hes and Anton Lategan started their own company developing professional field guides for the growing African tourism market way back in 1993. The guiding story spread throughout the African has now expanded to Kenya, Botswana and Zambia.
Having developed such a professional, diverse and internationally recognised course structure these passionate guides wanted to implement their proven training methods in other regions of the globe.
Australia was the next logical location with such a diversity of ecosystems, flora and fauna – the sunburnt continent offered multiple locations to expand their legacy and Afreco Australia is here to assist.
In 2008 the first field guide training programs on the border of World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia began.
