About the course
This course is lead by head guide and trainer Ian Hutton who has has 15 years experience working with Indigenous communities. Join Ian on this week long course that gives you first hand experience of Indigenous Australian’s past, present, and future whilst living in a wild bush setting on the Mary River Floodplain, allowing you time to understand this rich, diverse, and ancient culture.
The trained Indigenous guides work alongside the camp guides to ensure all our subject matter is presented in an authentic way.
Location
Part 1 of the course is conducted at EcoTraining Australia’s northern bush camp on Swim Creek Station. This part provides an introduction to aboriginal culture through participation in both bush survival skill exercises and traditional hunting and gathering. Part 2 of the course is a dedicated field trip to nearby Kakadu National Park during which you will be guided through Aboriginal owned land by a traditional owner. Activities will include rock art tours, bush tucker walks , bush walks, river cruises and dreamtime storytelling.

Accommodation
EcoTraining Australia has a purpose built bush training camp with access to a range of tropical landscapes.
The camp has 10 twin share large African style canvas tents with single beds. A fully insect screened training room with attached kitchen and shared ablution facilities with hot showers and flushing toilets.
